The mission of the Division of Quality Assurance is to assure compliance by Medical Necessity Review Organizations (MNRO) in accordance with R.S. 22:3070, of the Louisiana Insurance Code, which mandates the licensure of entities making medical necessity determinations, and establishes standardized procedures to appeal adverse medical necessity determinations.

This Division monitors the claim handling practices of the health insurance industry in accordance with R.S. 22:250.31, Timely Payment of Claims, to enforce compliance with applicable State and Federal laws, rules and regulations.
