Upcoming Programs

In the next couple of months, the Louisiana Automobile Theft and Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority will offer two training videos relating to owner give-ups.

“The Give Up” is designed for law enforcement personnel. This 13 minute video was made for police officers, by police officers, to help identify and arrest a new kind of bad guy. This bad guy files false auto theft reports and uses a law enforcement agency to commit fraud or to cover up another crime. We call this crime “owner give-up.” This video shows how asking the right questions and paying close attention to details can lead to the arrest of these criminals. The contents of this video get inside the mind of the cop and the crook as a fast-moving story unfolds. See how asking a few more questions and paying attention to details can put small-time crooks behind bars.

This video will be mailed free to all law enforcement agencies in Louisiana. It will include an easy to follow questionnaire to act as a guide for officers when taking an auto theft report.

“The Give Up: Special Victims Unit” is designed for insurance claims personnel and special investigative units. This video reviews the basics for spotting and investigating owner give-ups from the insurance company’s point of view.

This video will be mailed free to all insurance special investigative units doing business in Louisiana. It will include related reference material.
