The Insurance Fraud Section investigates all instances of alleged or suspected fraud committed by or upon insurance agents, brokers and companies. The Fraud Section assists local, state and federal authorities in fraud investigations, as necessary, and cooperates with industry associations and organizations in the investigation and prevention of fraud.

| LA Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority |

Act 711 of the 2004 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature created the Louisiana
Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority. The LATIFPA is a public agency
whose purpose is to combat motor vehicle insurance fraud, including fraud by theft
and other criminal acts. Act 711 also establishes an Automobile Theft and Insurance
Fraud Prevention Authority Fund within the LATIFPA. This specially created funding
mechanism will be used to collect and disburse funds through a grant process for
the purpose of reducing motor vehicle theft and insurance fraud. |
