Released: February 16, 2007
An Alexandria insurance agent has been issued a cease and desist
order and summary suspension of his licenses today for allegedly
misappropriating insurance premiums.
Terrell Jarod Flowers, 22, was served by Department of Insurance
Fraud Section Investigators with an order to cease and desist
from engaging in the business of insurance and
a summary suspension of his licenses today at the City of Winnfield
Police Station, where he was already incarcerated on unrelated
charges. The Louisiana State Police
Insurance Fraud Unit also served Flowers with warrants on violations
of Prohibited Insurance Acts-Unfair Trade Practices and Felony
Theft.
Flowers is alleged to have collected thousands of dollars in
premiums, which he did not remit to the insurance company.
Department records show that Flowers held a life & health license from December
2003 until May 2006 and a property and casualty license from February 2004 until
today's action.
Commissioner Donelon urges consumers who have any questions regarding policies Flowers
sold or serviced to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Section at 225-342-4956
or 1-800-259-5300. If callers dont want their names used, they can request
that their involvement be kept confidential.
