Baker Agent Served With Cease and Desist Order, License Revocation and Fine Notice

Released: July 14, 2009

A Baker agent has been served with a cease and desist order, notice of license revocation and fine notice today for alleged misappropriation of premiums.

Patikii Je Gibbs (a.k.a. Patikii Gibbs Powell), 55, was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators today with a cease and desist order, notice of license revocation and a $1,500 fine notice. Gibbs allegedly misappropriated $1,837 in insurance premiums. Her bond was applied to this amount, leaving $1,309 that she still owes the company.

Department records show that Gibbs held an Industrial Fire license from June 2008 through April 2009. She was also issued a Home Service license in June 2008 which was valid until today’s action.

Commissioner Donelon urges consumers who feel uneasy about any insurance related transaction to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Section at 225-342-4956 or 1-800-259-5300. If callers do not want their names used, they can request that their involvement be kept confidential.
