Department of Insurance Senior Health Insurance Information Program to Present Medicare Training Workshop in Monroe on August 5

The Department of Insurance Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) will hold its 2009 Medicare Training Workshop in the Monroe Civic Center Bayou Room on August 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop will be conducted by SHIIP Director, Vicki Dufrene, and will cover the total Medicare Package including Medicare A, B, C & D.

The program will begin with a session on understanding Medicare, followed by sessions on Medigap, Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage and Medicare Advantage Plans. It will conclude with a focus on current national and state Medicare issues and partnering opportunities, as well as Medicare program updates for 2009 and 2010.

The workshop is beneficial for advocates, medical professionals and organizations that provide services to the Medicare population. Anyone wishing to attend can contact Gladys Hall at hallgk@stfran.com to register.

The Monroe Civic Center is located at 401 Lea Joyner Expressway in Monroe. The workshop is hosted by the Louisiana Department of Insurance, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis Insurance Agency, The Franciscan House and St. Patrick’s Behavioral Health Hospital.
