Monroe Agent Issued Cease and Desist Order, Summary Suspension Order,
and Fine Notice

A West Monroe agent was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section
Investigators today with a cease and desist order, a summary suspension
order and fine notice for alleged misappropriation and misrepresentation.
Michael Ryan Evans,
26, was served by the Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators
today with a cease and desist order,
a summary
suspension order, and a $3350.00 fine notice. Evans was also arrested
today by the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto theft Unit.
Evans allegedly misappropriated or otherwise failed to remit or failed
to timely remit premiums collected while working as a commissioned
agent prior to and including 2010. Evans is alleged to have misappropriated
or unlawfully withheld sums totaling approximately $12,884.74 and also
falsely and fraudulently misrepresented the terms of the insurance
contract.
Department records show that Evans held a Property license effective
1/6/06, valid through 4/30/11 and a Casualty license effective 1/6/06,
valid through 4/30/11, until both licenses were summarily suspended
today. Additionally, Evans previously held Vehicle Physical Damage
license effective 1/6/06-04/30/09, a Life license effective 10/13/05-
4/30/10 and an Accident and Health license effective 10/13/05 -4/30/10.
Evans has 30 days from the time of notice to file a written demand
for an administrative hearing to contest the regulatory action taken
against him by the Department of Insurance. Commissioner Donelon urges
