Covington Agent Arrested and Served with
Summary Suspension Order
A Covington agent has been served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators with a summary suspension and cease and desist order for alleged misappropriation of insurance premiums.
Shantell Perniciaro was arrested by Louisiana State Police on November 2, 2012 for failure to remit premium for an insurance policy and for forgery of a certificate of insurance. She was also served by the Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators with a summary suspension of her license and a cease and desist order which prohibit her from any and all activity in the business of insurance.
It is alleged that Perniciaro failed to remit thousands of dollars in premiums to insurance companies. Department records show that Perniciaro was issued an insurance producer license in January 2007.
She has 30 days from time of service to request an administrative appeal or the above actions will become final.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon urges consumers who feel uneasy about any insurance related transaction to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Section at 225-342-4956 or 1-800-259-5300. If callers do not want their names used, they can request that their involvement be kept confidential.
