Donelon Announces Ileana Garcia Ledet as New Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs
Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon announced today that Ileana Garcia Ledet has assumed the position of Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs for the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Ledet will head the Public Affairs division by managing the Department’s public relations activities. She will assume her post immediately.
A graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Ledet earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with Communications Concentration and minored in radio and television. Ledet is no stranger to news media. Over the course of her career, she has produced television newscasts, managed a news staff of reporters, photographers, and producers, covered news stories on-the-air, and produced radio news. Her passion for communications has taken her all over the country – from Louisiana to Massachusetts and as far west as Arizona, but ultimately, back home to Louisiana.
Ledet comes to the Louisiana Department of Insurance after a relatively quick rise through the ranks of the Louisiana Department of Education where she served as Public Information Officer before being promoted to Public Information Director for the department, a position she has held for more than a year.
“We are extremely pleased to have Ms. Ledet head our Office of Public Affairs,” said Commissioner Donelon. “Undoubtedly her experience and knowledge will prove to be an invaluable asset to the department.”
Ledet is assuming the position from Amy David who was with the department for 10 years.
